Their families brave long, dangerous journeys, seeking safety and a better life. But many end up in detention or trapped in limbo. UNICEF works to protect them every step of the way by promoting alternatives to detention, visiting shelters to make sure children get proper nutrition, health care and counseling, and providing legal assistance to ensure families and children know their rights.
UNICEF is also working to address the conditions that force families to flee their home countries.
