The fighting has displaced an estimated 2.6 million children in Syria, destroyed schools, hospitals and water treatment facilities and denied 3 million children under 5 nutrition critical to their health and development. The violence has also driven 2.5 million children into neighboring countries, where they live as refugees.
Since the crisis began, UNICEF has been on the ground, helping children cope with the impact of war.
